Thomond House Partnership
ACT Thomond House is part the Partnership of Voluntary Housing Associations and the statutory bodies of Limerick City and County Council and the Health Service Executive West who work together to provide an integrated homeless service in the Mid-West Region. In the delivery of services the voluntary sector provides and manages accommodation and support clients through a host of support services including key working. This is supported by the Statutory Homeless Action Team with its specialist multi- disciplines who provide professional backup and linkages to other mainstream services. The Statutory Multi-Disciplinary Homeless Assistance Team is made up of: Coordinator, Team Leader, Public Health Nurse, Community Psychiatric Nurse, Resettlement Officer, Tenancy Sustainment Officer, Community Welfare Officer D.S.P., Youth Worker, Tenancy Sustainment Officer and Occupational Therapists.
The Homeless Services of Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary meet in the formal setting of a Regional Homeless Consultative Forum where the various groups represented by both the voluntary and the statutory sector work to produce the key strategic developments for input into local homeless strategies and an action plan. This plan provides the platform for the continued provision of high quality person focused services with access to the appropriate services to live independently. It is envisaged that new provisions in the plan will help make homelessness a more central element of the housing authority functions while promoting a more planned approach to homeless services throughout the region. The plans strategic objectives are to reduce homelessness through preventative measures, to eliminate long-term homelessness, reduce reliance on emergency accommodation services and better coordination and integrated delivery to ensure efficient services.
